This Team is preparing their car right before the race starts. One man is scraping built up rubber from practice off the tires, and the other is about to top it off with fuel while the driver rests in the background. I want shots like these to show how much of a team sport racing is. And when it’s just local racing like Stafford, everyone here is likely friends or family. They know it’s likely they will lose more money than they earn from racing. But they all do it because they love it and support eachothers passions.
This shot of a crashed racecar leaving the track is going to be used to show the hardships that come with the sport. At the end of the day, these drivers and families build the cars with their own time and money. However, they know the risk involved every race day. This unlucky driver knows he is about to spend lots of money, and waste lots of time repairing this car, and it must be done by next week so he can race again. All to chase glory, or repeat the same grueling process, its a gamble each Friday, and sometimes an expensive or heartbreaking loss.
I want some B-roll that will make people who have never been exposed to Racing say “wow that is pretty awesome”. I tried to get some really action packed shots of the cars on the track, and this is just one of many. I got a few shots of the cars crashing as well, which will definitely be used to show conflict. I used techniques like “dirtying the frame” to make this shot a little more interesting by shooting it through the fence and having the large post on the left side.
